Berlin-based composer Rettward von Doernberg, whose credits include titles such as "Cosmos – a concerto for eight electric guitars and four electric basses," the ambient track "Night Drive" and the score to the award-winning animation film "Manic Moondays" has now released the EP "Be Water," which includes a new piece ...of new age/ambient music of the same name.

"Be Water" is von Doernberg’s second piece of new age/ambient music to be released. His first release "Night Drive," the second track on the EP, has been heard on more than 30 radio stations and podcasts, including such names as "Spacemusic," "HRB1," "Subsonic Temple Radio," "Idyllic Music," and "Epiphany Radio."

The nine minute-long piece "Be Water" makes skillful use of symphonic and electronic elements such as a throbbing beat and rich R&B brass ensemble. As the piece moves forward towards its second part, we are made aware of its pure essence, which can be traced back to Bruce Lee’s philosophy that we should strive to "be water."

Von Doernberg points out that "Bruce Lee came up with his own philosophy. His motto 'be water, my friend' is his way of encouraging open-mindedness. Our world view should be as liquid as water. In short, we need to be able to cast our prejudices aside and learn from others."

The third part of the piece is a synthesis of the first two. Here, at "Be Water’s" symphonic and electronic climax, Lee’s influence is at its strongest.

"Bruce Lee reminds us of the significance and difficulties of true self-expression. I suppose every artist has to make the choice between the clear path that leads to fame and fortune and the road less traveled." As von Doernberg puts it, "it’s all about being true to yourself even at the price of letting your art go unrecognized. I personally believe that if you are true to yourself, success will follow. But first, you have to believe in yourself."
