Read this speech - candid unscripted NIXON. More of this could have saved his 2nd term. The section on TR is awsome.....so is the below quote...very true

"the greatness comes not when things go always good for you, but the greatness comes and you are really tested, ...when you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes, because only if you have been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain."

Nixon is a highly complex man - very much misunderstood and maligned as President. He did many great things for this country...a man from humble beginings...

hi!
is this your page, Nixon, Sir?
in case not, can any of you guys reach Nixon?
i'm informed of a coming tsunami -from east, this week :s
i was in St.Vincent and the grenadines when i was told, and the death penalty should be removed from the new constitution there!
the quicker you go about, the better, i'd say. it's been ...days since i was told cancelling the tsunami was "urgent!"
there was something to Nixon on my journey there -and i'd like him to be informed of this -it might be he's the man to make this change! :D
please, pray against any disaster, and for a change of heart in people against capital punishment!
God Bless!

Nixon; your career was plagued by controversy, and I certainly don't agree with a great deal of your policies nor your tactics. That being said, you helped divert war, extended your hand to China and the USSR, and helped advance America more than any president since. You also met with war protestors on the steps of the... Lincoln Memoral. That took courage.

So, for these things you have my respect and admiration.

RIP President Nixon.

The tragedy of Watergate is that such a significant leader was destroyed, along with what would have been the accomplishments of his second term. We remember Watergate to the extent we do because such a great leader fell. If it had been Jimmy Carter that had been driven from office... few would bother to remember the... scandal's name. Carter never seemed presidential -- even while in office. He always was a small man in a big job.

Nixon was the President ! Nixon was in charge and making a difference on the world stage, and EVERYONE in the world at the time knew he was making a difference.

Nixon.. WAS the one !

His worst areas, were in the field of economics. His Wage and Price controls laid the foundation for the rampant inflation that hit the US in the late 70s. Yes, there were other factors -- including the oil embargo -- but Nixon's economic policies were his weakest area. His aides would refer to MEGO -- My Eyes Glaze ...Over -- as what would happen to Nixon when he had to deal with economics and domestic issues.

But to view him in merely the prsim of Watergate, is to overlook a master politician, and a great leader, who lead America -- successfully -- through some of the greatest challenges we faced. And we forget how popular he became in the process. In 1968, he was elected with a minority of the vote. But four years later, he won 49 states -- even taking George McGovern's South Dakota.

When one considers what was accomplished in what was essencially one term, and how the legacy of that one term still affects the world today, it is a stunning acknowlegement at his accomplishments in office.

The opening to China, the end of the Vietnam War, the launch of the EPA, building a greater peace in the Middle... East, the beginning of arms control with the Soviets. And his willingness to ignore the critics and make the tough calls -- all put him in a much stronger light than his critics at the time ever gave him.Read More

Gary Ashcroft

Gary Ashcroft I love this guy, despite Watergate. His picture with Kissinger here says it all- he was a master of foreign policy. If the Republicans ditched neoconservative philosophy and took a page out of his book, they might be able to actually do something next year.

I am currently reading "Nixon Reconsidered" by Joan Hoff. I've collected about ten to fifteen books on Nixon - many of his books - and several by other authors. He was on top of every issue. Perhaps the last "hands-on" president we ever had. He was brillant.

Jefim Naljotov The best republican president, unlike Republicans who thought government was evil, Nixon made government less corrupt and made it more efficent.
