Richmond Sunlight I've just added a useful new feature—partisanship rankings for legislators, that display how far to the left or the right that a given legislator is. For instance, on Del. Watkins Abbitt's page you can see that he, one of the two independent members of the legislature, is right of center. This calculation is performed automatically, daily, using the legislators' bill copatroning histories.

Though Del. Abbitt is a Republican -- he votes with Republicans and caucuses with Republicans -- he labels himself as an independent. This may well come from his recognition that his political reputation ...

This has the immediate effect of making the site a great deal faster, but it's also going to facilitate lots of new features.
