El VCU College of Humanities and Sciences Votes for Women Suffrage March begins at noon at Ginter House. Open to all, come in period dress if you like, and celebrate the centennial of the founding of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia and the renaming of Crenshaw House.

El VCU College of Humanities and Sciences Votes for Women event: lecture on VA women in politics, 7pm, VCU Student Commons Ballroom. The Librarian of Virginia, Sandra Treadway, Ph.D., will present the lecture: "A Lady's Place is in the House [of Delegates]: Virginia Women in Politics, 1909 - 2009." Free and open to the public.

El VCU College of Humanities and Sciences VCU commemorates the centennial anniversary of the founding of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia, which took place Nov 20, 1909, at 919 W. Franklin St - now VCU's Crenshaw House. The ESL became the League of Women Voters of Virginia in 1920, one year after women won the right to vote. A Suffrage march and official renaming of Crenshaw House wil be held at noon on Fri, 11/20.

This 2004 HBO production, partly filmed in Richmond, tells the true story of the struggle of several suffragists who fought for the passage of the 19th amendment.

VCU Cabell First Novelist Festival will be held on Fri, 11/6. Deb Olin Unferth will read from her winning novel Vacation at 6:30 in Richmond Salons, VCU Commons.
Following the reading, Unferth will take part in a panel discussion with her agent, David McCormick, and her editor from McSweeney's Eli Horowitz. The event is free and open to the public. A book-signing and reception will follow.
