Carrying the Olympic Torch was everything I thought it would be and more! What an amazing way to end my year and a wonderful experience! When Dave, the organizer said "you will be the only one carrying the torch in the whole world during your moment", it really hit home. He also told us that most runners said afterward...s that it was too short. I can vouch for that. Everybody shared their stories on the bus so that we could get to know each other. The one that inspired me the most was that of Lt. Georgette Mink. She told everyone about how there will be three people carrying the Torch. She is expecting twins! How cool is that!! We all cheered each other on and there was so much excitement in the air.I had lots of support from family and friends including a couple of car loads of kids from Mississauga that braved the cold to see me. Thanks for that Anne Marie!
The next day I got to see the torch again in Barrie where my brother in-law Brett who was nominated through Molsons got to carry it. Later we would meet up at a Restaurant where 4 of us torch bearers and a large group of people including my own family would gather together for a picture and end up singing "Oh Canada" What a great feeling that was! Then I went at the Mcdonalds in Walmart to meet up with some friends who wanted to see the torch. I got swarmed by many families wanting a picture with the torch. It was so nice to see the Olympic spirit in everybody. That is what this is meant to do, to bring all Canadians together in a very positive way.
Thanks to RBC for picking me and to all of the troops at CFB Borden for showing my friends and family a great time!

This is the icing on the cake and one of the biggest honours that I could ever receive to be put on that list, because to be there recognizes a person as being one of the best of the best in Canada. Once again I am overwhelmed by all of this.
I want to thank my coach Roger DeP...lancke (OLAC) for being the most amazing coach, along with my Prosthetist Jim Low and Vince Quinn, my family, Dave Greig, and the support group that helped to get me where I am today. Follow your dreams everybody!

I have the honour of being named an inspirational Ambassador by Ray Zahab, the founder of Impossible2Possible. For those of you that haven't heard of Ray, he has an amazing story that everyone can relate to. In 1998, Ray went from smoking a pack-a-day and an unhealthy life style to running ultra foot races.
If you ever ...get the chance to watch it, go to his website and download the movie about him and two others running the entire 4,300 miles across the Sahara Desert. I found it to be a very inspiring and exciting story. As a result of this race he is now involved in a lot of charity work. http://store.nehst.com/running-the-sahar a.html
In 2008 he became the first person to trek to the South Pole on a 1130 km route solely on foot. He told me that this was even tougher than running the Sahara. You are quite the adventurer Ray, keep up the great work!!

I finished my 5 k race today at the Toronto Marathon and came in 14th out of 2,557 participants and 2nd place in my age group with a time of 18:10. My coach Roger DePlancke also came in 2nd in his AG. It was nice to have a big group of runners to run against so that I could push myself near the end.
I want to thank Jay... Glassman and Mike Collins for the invite to this wonderful event. It was great to have John Stanton from the Running Room making the announcements at the finish line. Many people showed up in support of the various charity organizations including the Toronto Foundation for Student Success.
Special thanks to Bob Kinnear and Local 113, the TTC and Barrie Prosthetics for their continued support!

My B-day present to myself was a speed workout in preparation for the 5km race at the Toronto Marathon on Sunday. It was probably the best speed workout ever for me.
