this a funny story that took place back in the 70's; maybe rick'll remember it & laugh ;-) my ex-wife & a coupla friends packed my lunchbox & sent me off to play with rick & band because a friend of mine had just been fired (if mem serves; he was danny's replacement), & they knew rick was lookin' for a new axe-man (not that he's EVER needed 1). ... See Moretruth be told, i went kickin' & screamin' because i wanted to play with henry cow, egg, hatfield, & NOT in a r&r band.

funny thing is, i heard some yrs later that i'd gotten the nod... UNTIL after over an hour or 2 later of jammin' & playin' his songs, i pulled out a tuning fork & proceeded to make noiz & get them to play in odd time signatures! it was kinda funny because kenny, the bassist, who got all bent outta shape because i had the "audacity," pulled me aside before i left & tried to give me this lecture about "you can't do this," & "you can't do that..." he was a vain schmuck, too, because rick & myron were grinnin' from ear to ear; THEY were havin' fun!

anyway, i think rick got that i really wanted to be todd more than danny johnson's replacement. i'd even pulled out a cassette of me playing guitar with 1 hand, & an arp 2600 with the other after we'd finished playing, & he had the patience to actually listen. i was a wild & young creature at the time. he was lovely, though, a real sweetheart. he couldn't have been more gentle or giving.
