Friends of Roanoke Public Library Virginia Western's Brown Library is the proud recipient of a new permanent art collection! Courtesy of the ART 132 class, the grouping consists of 16 recycled book sculptures. The transformed books include everything from a cupcake sitting tantalizingly atop a sociology textbook to one that’s been completely changed into the bust of a horse.

Jackson Park branch and Gainsboro branch – new community and stu...dy rooms, books, Teen Centers to be complete in early 2009-Tremendous improvements, faithful to the recommendations of the 2005 Comprehensive Library Study and responsive to the local needs
• Future
Encourage Council in their continued implementation of the Library Master Plan which calls for a new “Superbranch” and a “Storefront” branch, both state-of-the-art model facilities for outstanding library customer service.
Action: Attend the celebration and bring a friend and a small book.
Why: Provide Council with a gentle reminder of the great constituency the Friends of the Library represent.
