First EP on Aquavit Records out now, 'Around 4'.
Writing new material for my forthcoming self-titled album, moving away from the chilled out Current mood and into the beat.
Planning new material together with Michael Snyder for the next Aquavit album which will be slightly more into the groove and with some female vocals.
And Djing and playing live in clubs and discos in Spain.
B I O:
Self-taught musician, composer and dreamer since forever. Born on a small island on the west coast of Norway, I grew up between the sea, the mountains and the music; Both parents singing and/or playing an instrument. Not quite sure what instrument to play I started out learning the organ, then played drums, keyboards and sang in different bands for a while and eventually fell in love with a synthesizer called Jupiter 8, moved into the world of electronics, and started to paint my own musical landscapes.
Since then I have released five albums as Current, the first 3 on the Norwegian label Origo Sound and the last ones on my own label CurrentMusik. One album with Michael Snyder (aka Eidetaker) in the band Aquavit and one vinyl with Billie Ray Martin in the band The Opiates.
Critics said about Aquavit debut album 'Telepatia' that it is "music for the well traveled". The album 'Anatomy of a plastic girl' (The Opiates) was praised by artists like Dj Hell (Gigolo Records), who also included a track on his latest compilation, and Mark Moore (S'Express) to name a few.
The track 'Ghost Trip' from the album 'Communion' (2003) was voted the 7 of 100 best Electronic Music tracks in the magazine E-dition together with other artists like Kraftwerk, New Order, David Sylvian, Biosphere and Ugress, and it became editors pick when it came out in 2003. Derek Sivert said “For the ambient electronic fan, these liquidy, rich and imaginative tracks are like a bubble bath for your brain.”
In 2005 'underCURRENTs', a double album of unreleased material was nominated best ambient album and a track from the album 'Waking up slowly' nominated best ambient track by 'Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2006'. It came out as number 4.
In 2006, I released my last album as Current, 'The Dream Cabinet':
“Exquisitely crafted genre music of a particularly fetching sort, The Dream Cabinet explores willowy ambience and plush velvet rhythms with equal aplomb, the sort of record which rewards endlessly enjoyable dividends.” review by Darren Bergstein, e/i Magazine.
