ARTISANworks celebrates local talent with Vignettes by E. Thomas Orsini

A Rochester native, Orsini is known for his acrylic vignettes that fuse caricatures with local scenery. ARTISANworks founder Louis Perticone, who has collected Orsini’ s work since 2007, has seen the artist’s popularity increase through the display... of his work within the Art Rental Program.
Equally inspired by acquaintances and by the press, Tom Orsini finds his caricatures in our present environment and expresses them in ways that denote hilarious, thought provoking social commentary. The paintings, rich with color, support the cartoon-like caricatures within strong structural representations of interior and exterior architecture. Friends of Orsini and residents of Rochester may be able to recognize themselves as active participants in his compositions.

The artist is a lifelong Rochesterian educated in the arts programs at RIT and the University of Rochester. His experience with realty illustration and a 30-year career as a civilian police officer has added to his ability for recreating narratives. The exhibit will approach everyday experiences and local clichés that deserve deep consideration and much-needed humor.

This event is the Exhibit Reception, but his work will be on display in the Workshop Hallway through Sunday, May 2

ARTISANworks and George Eastman House partner for their annual photo and exhibit with respected Rochester photographer Nathan Lyons. Lyons will present his cross-continental photo chronicles of the nation's grief after the September 11th attacks at the World Trade Center.

Lecture at the George Eastman House Dryden Th...eater: Thursday, September 10th at 5:00pm with book signing to follow, free to ARTISANworks and Eastman House Members.

Exhibit Opening at ARTISANworks: Friday, September 11th, 2009 at 6:00pm. Exhibit reception with the artist in the workshop hallway 6:00pm - 9:00pm.
