We had our 60th Celebration with a theme: "Stones of Remembrance"

GREAT attendance, GREAT children and youth attendance, GREAT Missionary speakers, GREAT worship, GREAT preaching and GREAT altar services, and GREAT food!
We shared a memorable time with breaking of the bread and drinking of the cup presented by our Evangelist, Bro. Wheatley.

Our Women of Purpose celebrated the life of our past Historian, Ramona Tanner and those faithful servants that preceded her. A concrete statue, fountain and bench was dedicated to the camp in her memory by her daughter and friends. Stones of Remembrance were placed in the fountain.

We had a "Stones of Remembrance" sharing from past campers and had approx. 95 in attendance including 4 from our first camp in 1949. Stories of tears, laughter and life changing experiences were shared.

Sunday Morning Worship by CMA radio personality and speaker, Gator Harrison (Tony Hawkins) was awesome. There were also testimonies of "Stones of Remembrance" from our Seniors in our Youth. The service included dynamic music and interpretive movement that brought us to our feet.

Sunday night concluded a memorable week with Joseph's Coat Offering and I challenged raising $60,000 for 60 years of Camp Overton Ministry. We owe $45,000 on a much need boy's bathhouse and as always upkeep on 24 buildings. We will focus for a year to challenge our Women of Purpose, Men's Fellowship, Youth and Congregations to be creative in this challenge. The Camp has served the State for 60 years in a Glorious setting and a presence of "Holy Ground" experience. It has served as a Haven for youth that have committed their lives to God for the first time or have answered the call to ministry in some form. It has served as a place for family camps, workshops, seminars, youth retreats, prayer retreats, family reunions and more. The camp has accommodated at least 10 other different denominations.

The camp is struggling in these economic times. We are limited, but God is not! We are told Camp Overton is a gold mine and we could never re-buy it again. We had record breaking camps, but we are challenged by the economy. You may want to give as a church, group, or individually on a monthly basis. Please send contributions to our Treasurer, Sue Reed, 12161 Warrior Trail, Knoxville, Tn. 37922
