The Vikings served up another great performance but were just edged out by Alnwick in this Northumberland league 3b match.


Rockcliff won their first game in eight matches in a close encounter with Medicals last saturday. With a strong wind blowing down the pitch both sides served up some good rugby with the vistors backs looking particularly impressive.


The Vikings picked up two valuable league points in this hard fought game against Shields. As they showed against Wallsend in last weeks cup semi final the pack is playing well and they were the platform for this win, with man of the match Dan Timney outs


Rockcliff's woes continue as they lost again, this time to North Shields who gave their survival chances a boost with this win. Rockcliff opened brightly, using the cross wind to kick the ball into the corner and from the resultant pressure Andrew Telford

Rockcliff started with a strong wind in their faces and received the kick off and from the outset it was obvious that Team Northumbria wanted to play at a quick pace.


The Vikings made it through to the next round of the cup when they prevailed in this closely fought tie. The sides were level at half time, with the score 0-0, and then Neil Mather and man of the match Richie Hennigan scored tries, both converted by Chris

A late come back by Rockcliff saw them share the league points and the honours in the Malcolm Flockton Cup match, although Shields, as holders, keep the trophy for another year as a result of the match being drawn.
