Saturday, March 29, 2008 . . . Dr. Darce Slate and the Pure Dentistry Team volunteered their time at the 2008 St. Baldrick's event @ the Westfield Roseville Galleria. This is a signature event for The Keaton Raphael Memorial (KRM) and raises money for cancer research. Pure Dentistry is a proud sponsor of KRM. Dr. Darc...e A. Slate and the Pure Dentistry team donated and handed out special "THANK YOU" gift bags to over 300 St. Baldrick's shavees. Dr. Slate and Pure Dentistry sponsored shavee Emily Laurel Gallagher, Community Outreach Manager for Starbucks and a Pure Dentistry Fan. Emily is a St. Baldrick's ROCK STAR... she raised over $3000 for cancer research. The Pure Dentistry Team had the honor of shaving Emily BALD on a stage before hundreds of spectators -WOW- What an amazing experience! Pure Dentistry is please to be part of the 2008 "Smiles for Kids Dental Program". On February 2, 2008, Dr. Darce Slate and the Pure Dentistry Team will provide oral health education, preventative and restorative care to low-income children in the Sacramento area who ...do not have access to care. This one day event is a fantastic kick-off for National Children's Dental Health Month.
Event History:
The Smiles for Kids Program was started in 1991 by Elk Grove Orthodontist Dr. Don Rollofson and Sacramento General Dentist Dr. Jerry Ortner. Initially it was a charitable project of the Senior PGA golf tournament (Gold Runsh) sponsored by Raley's and later the Sacramento Kings. The program is now under the auspices of the Sacramento District Dental Society's Charitable Foundation, a non profit 501c3 organization. Since 1991, over $5.6 million of much needed dental care has been provided to 9,000 kids, in both general dental clinics as well as an orthodontic program. Fifty Sacramento District Dental Society Orthodontists treat one child per year in their private practice offices. Over 75 general dentists and specialists and their staffs donate their time and materials for these one-day clinics.
