Romaround If you're travelling around Northern Italy don't miss Parma, a lovely place where you can enjoy delicious food and the city that gives the name to the Parmesan cheese ! Read this NYT article

There’s the city that sprang from the imagination of the author of “The Charterhouse of Parma,” and there’s the real place. Both are worth exploring.

Romaround Again exceptional acqua alta in Venice ! This morning reached 144 cm above average sea level, the 11th highest of all times ! Watch this video

The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities is about to start a new campaign aimed at increasing visits to national monuments.
This quite provocative campaign is threatening to take away monuments like the Colosseum, if they do not have enough visitors !
The line is saying "if you don't visit them, we will take th...em away" ... looks like there are chances that in the future you will have to go to London to see Michelangelo's David ??!!
And who knows, maybe the Colosseum will be disassembled and moved to Shanghai. So hurry up and don't miss the chance before it's too late !!

While in Rome a vintage streetcar is sponsored by Coca-Cola (see a previous post) and passengers can tour around the city having free sodas and sweets, in Milan they did something similar but much more upscale (as usual).
If you are planning Christmas shopping in Milan, you can hop-on this tram sponsored by Tiffany and... maybe buy a diamonds' necklace on the go.
Fantastic isn't it ?

An exhibition with images by photographer Candida Hofer will start tomorrow at Palazzo Medici-Riccardi in Florence.
German-born Candida Hofer makes large-format pictures having empty public buildings as the main object. It is really fascinating to see how places look different when they are not filled by huge crowds.
The exhibition will be open until 24 January 2010.

Gene Carlino I am planning a trip with my wife and 90-year old mother. I want to stay is Rome and then travel on day trips to Tuscany/Pompeii etc. I will be flying from New York. I would like to travel when the weather is mild (May or July)? I will need a wheel chair. What do you recommend for a travel package that is not ver...y expensive? We will sleep three to a room. 10 days total.

Romaround Very good article about Rome, seeing the Eternal city from different angles. We wish a nice Sunday to everyone !

Here at Romaround we are great fans of all stuff taking inspiration from ancient Rome.
For this time we make an exception and are honored to host this sensational sketeboard inspired by ancient Greece .. Enjoy

Romaround As you may have you noticed already, here at Romaround we love to spot the creative side of the Italian lifestyle. So here is another advertising campaign, this time for sunglasses. Don't know if you will consider it more fun, ugly or even disturbing. For sure the Milan based ad agency Young and Rubicam dared to be cre...ative enough. The photo location is the center of Milan.

Romaround There is still time to see Leonardo's Vitruvian man, one of the most famous icons of Western civilization. Due to it's fragility, usually is not displayed in public, and it remained hidden for more than 7 years since its last appearance. But if you will be in Venice before 10 January don't miss the chance to see it !
