Laci Grisham I, too, am from PCMS and i want to say that Hero was amazing and i think it was, in a way, easy to relate to for me. The ending essay that sean wrote really impressed me because i think how the world is now, people probably do feel like that. Thank you for listening, and most of all, writing the truly inspiring book, Hero.

Patrick TheSevie Neve Hi Mrs Rottman, I go to McNair and I was wondering how to order Slalom from you, should I give your son the $10 or......

S. L. Rottman Spoke to McNair Magnet School 7th & 8th graders this morning. Had a great visit! There was one strange 7th grader who decided to sit through all three of my presentations....some kid named Paul.... :)

S. L. Rottman Got unofficial word that Out of the Blue will be nominated for a state young adult award--since it's not official, can't tell you the state, but can tell you that I'm super excited it's generating positive feedback!

S. L. Rottman New manuscript of off to an editor today--now I get to cross my fingers and wait for three months....or four...or five...

S. L. Rottman Finished the edit in Gillette, but an early reader just gave me some great suggestions--hoping to finish changes by next Wed and send to an editor!

S. L. Rottman A successful week of school visits--I had a great time and had a lot of good responses and feedback from the sophomores. One more school visit on the calendar for this month (back home in FL), and then I'm done for the year...unless someone else wants to invite an author into the classroom!

S. L. Rottman After speaking to a class this morning and working out right after lunch, I'm now buckling down to do an edit--not coming up for air until I'm done...or have finished at least 100 pages....or get hungry....

S. L. Rottman Super cool event today: The last time I was in Gillette, I read a chapter of my unpublished manuscript, Out of the Blue. Today, I met a student who was in one of those classes, and he bought the published book! :) I'm reading a new manuscript chapter to some of the classes, hoping for the "Gillette kiss of good luck" to follow it!

S. L. Rottman Ready to start a week of school visits here in Gillette, WY!

S. L. Rottman Part of the School Library Journal October review of Out of the Blue: "The story offers both a realistic interpretation of teenage life on an Air Force base and the teen’s feeling of powerlessness upon witnessing child abuse–both physical and verbal–in action."–Ryan Donovan, New York Public Library

S. L. Rottman Part of the "Kiss the Book" review of Out of the Blue: "I learned a lot of things about military life that, as a civilian, I never really understood. Rottman writes really great problem fiction with boys as the main characters and everyone of his books is worth having in your library." MS, HS – ADVISABLE. Cindy, Library-Teacher
