Omaha's Maria Taylor writes and records stunningly beautiful music. Her songs are regularly played on the television show Grey’s Anatomy, and she is the lovely female voice you hear accompanying Conor Oberst of Bright Eye...s on his albums.
Maria Taylor is part of the Omaha-based Saddle Creek Record family, responsible for producing some of the best independent songwriters of this decade including Rilo Kiley and Bright Eyes. Taylor initially built a name for herself as half of the band Azure Ray.
These days Taylor focuses her attention on her solo career and her backing band. Taylor recently released her highly anticipated third album "Lady Luck" to much critical praise. The album features a few guest performances, including REM's Michael Stipe.
Before you listen to her new album, Maria Taylor suggests you prepare yourself. Listen to it, she says "in a dark room, with a candle or two with headphones, maybe in the bath, but definitely horizontal.
Opening this Cellar Door performance is fellow Omaha band Whispertown 2000. Whispertown is the new Omaha buzz band, discovered by Omaha's Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley. The band will tour in support of their album "Swim".Read More
