Deirdre Hi I live in Ireland (republic) and I am wondering what I could do to help on the day! I am studying art & design in one of the courses I am doing but it is adult education and nothing like school! I just wonder what I could do!

Here's a video that I have on YouTube. I made it two years ago for the very first STAND UP Day and it has been used by thousands since.

Deirdre When is the next "stand up to bullying day"?

Chaz Douglas Bullies are an integral part of the school ecosystem, but if something like standing up would stop them well they would be gone a long time ago.

Stand Up Day had such an awesome impact on our school, and it was the catalyst that really got us going in creating a better bullying prevention program. We are planning to participate every year, and can't thank you enough for the work you are doing here. You rock!

STAND UP to Bullying Day
A special bi-annual event in which people across the world who have signed a special pink pledge shirt join together in wearing them to:
1) Send a loud, non-confrontational message of resistance to bullies
2) Identify themselves to victims as a source of support willing to help, now AND in the future
3) Draw a...ttention to the effects of bullying, and stimulate passive bystanders into action
More than 1300 schools, workplaces and clubs representing almost 1,000,000 people across the world have registered to take a STAND against bullying during an International STAND UP to Bullying Day.
New participants can register for free at http://www.standupday.com
All materials are available on the website, as are STAND UP Pledge Shirts.
ABOUT THE SHIRTS:
Ordering pledge shirts helps to create and support initiatives aimed at stopping bullying throughout the year. They are 100% custom made for this event by the supplier, BullyClothing.com. 100% cotton, cut to fit with high quality screens. They come tagged/folded and wrapped for each participant. $10 each + $2 s & h.
WHY PINK?
The color of the pledge shirts is based on a STAND that was taken by Travis Price and David Shepherd, two students who purchased a bunch of pink tank tops and handed them out to their classmates after another student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt the previous day. Catherine This will be my first year wearing a pink shirt. I'm very excited about this cause. Being teased from K to 12 did a lot more damage than I thought and I didn't have the help that kids today do. The first time I heard about Stand Up Day I nearly cried. It's been a long, hard road getting over what happened to me and... part of me wishes that more kids in my schools hadn't turned a blind eye. I think one of the best days of my life was when one of the bullies from my elementry school, apologized to me for teasing me so much. It was well after we graduated, but it helped me in the healing process. Many parents used to say that it's just the way kids are, but what they don't realize is just how much damage name calling can do. In the end, I can stand up and say that I'm ok. I made it this far and I plan to keep going! To all the people involved in this, to the students who started this revolution and to the teachers and parents for being more proactive, THANK YOU! It means so much!

Robyn Our school of 1100 STOOD UP on Friday, what a message! Thank you for organizing all of this. We plan to revisit it 2 more times this year. It's not just about taking the pledge once, its actually meaning and doing it.

STAND UP to Bullying Day Today is STAND UP Day everyone! Remember to sign and wear your shirts with pride! FYI, we've recently announced that another STAND will be hosted on February 27th, 2009. We opted against utilizing Facebook to spread the word this time around as we were trying to make sure we had enough shirts for the numbers we ended u...p with, but you'll be hearing/seeing lots from us here over the next few weeks/months as we try to get as many people as possible on board! Thanks for your support!

STAND UP to Bullying Day Quick update! We now have more than 400 schools registered to participate on November 21st!
