STARTLEFISH
Last year we played a special show at Christmas with the theme of Startlefish Acoustic". The gig was great holiday fun, and we so wanted to do something fun, and different for Christmas this year as well.

Sadly, two of our members are not available this year. Drummer Ed Young has a previous commitment and Jason McBride ...is out of town, but we still wanted to have a live music, friends and family kind of Christmas party.

Since Ed and Jason can't be there, we feel weird about playing Startlefish songs, especially the new ones since we'd only have half the guys who've been working on them.

To this end, we've come up with the idea of doing another 'theme night'. This time 'round, we've decided to play a night of cover songs, which is something we've never done.

So this year we'll be joined by two musical friends; drummer Ken Coulter and keyboard player Brian Holmes for a night of the our favourite songs interpreted our way.

No other live performances are planned until work has been completed on the new album.

STARTLEFISH We just finished the last song for our new album yesterday. We'll be recording drums this month, final parts in October, and mixing in November ... so hopefully ... new Startlefish album this December!

STARTLEFISH Craig and Roy here, just after editing the Runway Park Border Jam photos. Roy says hello and he's sorry he was drunk for that photo on SooToday. We had an amazing time! See you soon.

STARTLEFISH Festival gig and a great time

STARTLEFISH

STARTLEFISH Before we played at Runway Park, we decided to do a show / barbeque thing just for friends to shake off the cobwebs.

We've finished writing our third album. Even better, we all really like the songs ... finally. The new songs are kind of upbeat for the most part. Which is different for us. Although it took us a bit longer to have the content that we wanted (we actually wrote about 35 songs to really get the ten we like) we're happy. ...Our goal is to have the album out by Christmas.

Also, we've started rehearsing for our show in August at the Bell Border Jam Festival. We haven't played together in a jamming capacity since December and it was awesome. Sometimes the best thing you can do is take a break when you're in a band. It fires you up, gets you excited and optimistic. Personally, I'd forgotten how much I liked playing Heaven & Earth!

So things are good in the Startlefish camp right now, knock on wood. See you in August!Read More

STARTLEFISH Well, we've finally got the Live Photos filled up with pictures, mostly from 2005 and 2006. We were gigging a lot then, and someone often had a camera. We still only have one picture of the band playing live with Jason. But hopefully we'll get some this summer.
