Michael Hardt und Antonio Negri entwickeln dagegen in ihrem neuen Buch »Common Wealth« einen ungewöhnlich optimistischen Ausblick auf eine andere Gesellschaft. Sie stellen die Frage, wie eine Gesellschaft aussähe, in der die klassischen Modelle von Privatbesitz und Öffentlichem Eigentum neu konzipiert wären? Bestimmte Ressourcen und Güter, so argumentieren Hardt und Negri, können und sollten nicht individuell besessen werden, sondern gemeinsam geteilt werden, weil sie von allen gebraucht und nur von allen geschützt werden können. Ressourcen wie Wasser, Luft und Pflanzen, aber auch immaterielle Güter wie Wissen und Informationen sollen so dem Zugriff privater, ökonomischer Interessen entzogen werden und stattdessen von allen partizipativ genutzt werden können.

Michael Hardt und Antonio Negri, Autoren des Bestsellers "Empire", entwickeln in ihrem neuen großen Werk einen provozierend optimistischen Gesellschaftsentwurf. Er beruht nicht mehr auf dem neoliberalen Gegensatz von Privatbesitz und öffentlichem Eigentum, sondern auf der Idee des Gemeinsamen ("common"). Im Streit um das politische Profil des 21.
