20 East End authors facilitate discussions on Thursday evenings throughout the Fall, Winter and Spring to celebrate the Library's 100th Anniversary. Local writers, aspiring writers and interested readers are invited to participate in these roundtable discussions. Books by the authors will be available for purchase.

On ...October 15th the first discussion will be led by three writers from the Dunes and Dreams chapter of Romance Writers of America who will discuss various means of getting published. Gina Ardito is a multi-published author of romantic comedies and historical romances. Candace Gold writes women's fiction with romantic elements and has over 200 stories in print. Debora Dennis is known for her sassy, sexy contemporary novellas.

on October 22nd the second discussion will be led by the editor and publisher of "The Sag Harbor Express," Brian Boyhan. This workshop on community journalism and the role played by the Sag Harbor Express will focus on where stories come from and how writers approach them. Touching on the journalistic style and the types of writing that appear in a newspaper – eg. Straight reporting, opinion, essay- the discussion will look at how the Internet has changed the way newspapers cover their communities and how it has affected the way newspapers engage the reader.

The annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the John Jermain Memorial Library at which community members may ask questions about the library's 2010 proposed operating budget.

This meeting will be followed by the annual Trustee Forum in which the community can meet and ask questions of the candidates running for the l...ibrary's Board of Trustees. This year there are two seats up for election and two candidates: incumbent Chris Leonard, and Michael Garabedian.

Nothing "about" a book can tell you whether this will be true love. Only the book itself can say. For the first few pages, my reading feels provisional, probing, just as it always does. But soon that feeling dissipates. The traces of uncertainty vanish. So, somehow, does the ink on the page, and I realize that I'm look...ing through the book as if it were translucent. This remains, after a lifetime of reading, a mystery and a joy.
