Campbell House Museum Happy Thanksgiving from Campbell House Museum! Read all about the Victorian Thanksgiving Day traditions. Mary seems to think the people in Philadelphia were stuffy on this holiday... "“We have Thanksgiving tomorrow – everybody must go to Church. They
are trying to make it a strictly religious festival, not a nice
me...rry-making time as in good New England.” How times have changed!

In it, he details some of the workings of the fur trade (buffalo skins dressed and beaver skins), the new fort he is building, and how much he misses his mother and he wants nothing more than for her to be happy: "I ...am solicitor of your comfort...and would...make any sacrifice to insure it."
