I love this! I have signed up to be an ACS DetermiNation Runner (the new name for the Charity Runner program) in the 1/2 marathon. Like the man in the video, I too had thyroid cancer. Can't wait until April. Run for a reason! Sign up as an ACS DetermiNation Runner!

Michael Mayers

Michael Mayers Is St. Louis was considering have a 3:10 pace group in addition to the ones listed for 2010?

Michael, we try to take all requests into consideration when planning pace groups, but we also depend on pacers to volunteer at specific speeds in order to fill all of our requested time slots. 3:10, which is a Boston Qualifier for many, is probably not one of our more requested time slots, but we work to find pacers when we can. Good luck in your training!

Lori Soller Kaufman

Lori Soller Kaufman Is GO St. Louis, considering having a wave start or designated corrals based on times. How many runners do you expect for the marathon?

Lori, As the race continues to grow, we are looking at introducing a wave start or corrals, which is the primary reason we ask for a participant's estimated finish time on the registration. No definite plans yet for 2010. The marathon race cap is 3,000 and with registrations up 40% we may reach that early. The half marathon cap is 10,000.

Suzanne Kirichkow Hi Everyone! This will be my first half marathon and I'm super nervous. I was wondering if there was anyone out there willing to take me under their wing; someone willing to answer questions for me?

I did my first half marathon last year and would be happy to share some things I learned, just let me know. I am working my way back up to run again this spring after hurting my knee during the last one.

I just did my very first half marathon last Sun (Bass Pro Springfield, MO). I did not train for it and hadn't ran in over 3months, but I did finish and I was super nervous about it! Truth is, it was on my bucket list and my mother in law which is a marathon runner was running the half two days after chemo (her last), so I wanted to celebrate it ... Read Morewith her :-). IT doesn't matter how fast or slow you are (unless your shutting for a time), I'd happily run with you! I don't have a running buddy and my mother in law and husband are too speedy for me..lol. :-)

My first marathon was this course last year and it wasn't bad. There's a few long hills, but they're pretty few and far between. I can really only think of 2 that were particularly bad. The rest were just pretty tame.
