Kicking off the Lowertown Reading Jams Series is Diego Vázquez and Friends at the Black Dog Café 7 p.m. Monday Oct. 5.
Featuring Diego reading an excerpt from his next novel in progress, "Border Town with the UFO Sky," poets Julia Klatt-Singer and Marcie Rendon, young writers Andrew Hall and Evan Hall, and an important ...reading from a new immigrant, Adán González.
To support and celebrate the work of Saint Paul writers in the Saint Paul literary community, the Saint Paul Almanac is sponsoring for the first time ever monthly Lowertown Reading Jams at the Black Dog Café in Lowertown, Saint Paul the first Monday of every month. Each reading will be curated by a different Saint Paul writer who invites other writers (established and emerging) to join them for a 1-1/2 hour performance centered around a theme of the curators choosing.
We intentionally expand language/communication experiences with a visual artist rendering each reading visually, and an interpreter signing each event.
Come check it out and support the literary arts in Saint Paul.Read More

Saint Paul Almanac What a party! Thank you for a terrific evening last night. It was good to meet so many of you. For me, when I open the Almanac I feel like I immerse myself into the soul of Saint Paul through your writing, spirit, and art. That's how I felt last night seeing everyone together celebrating. We will work on that sound system. Thank you especially to the readers who braved the crowds. Best wishes to each of you.

Bob Deck Having spent years around the Pigs Eye locale on the river I really enjoyed the Van Tassell stories about the old communities on the island
