Salem Chamber Orchestra celebrates its 25th anniversary season by welcoming back founder Bruce McIntosh to lead the first concert of the Masterworks Series, Nov. 21 & 22, 2009.

Salem Chamber Orchestra presents a Winter Soiree: Fireside Jazz featuring the innovative chamber music group, Silk Mountain Project. The recital will be on Wednesday Dec 9 at 7:30pm at Gaiety Hill House, the home of Tom & Jessica Andersen. Proceeds benefit Salem Chamber Orchestra.
The Silk Mountain Project was created... in 2009 to advance the cause of chamber jazz/pop/rock improvisational crossover styles played by strings, and in particular to celebrate the unique voice of the viola. There’s a style for everyone; it’s a fun and eclectic mix, and all inspired by the beautiful mountains of Oregon!
The ensemble features long-time violist of the Turtle Island String Quartet Danny Seidenberg and his wife Daryl (Silk Mountain is the English translation of the name “Seidenberg”). Holding it all together are guitarist Christopher Woitach and cellist Noah Seitz.
Following the recital is a complimentary reception featuring wine, winter coffee cocktails, and desserts. Also have the opportunity to purchase Jessica Maxwell’s new book, Roll Around Heaven. Ms. Maxwell’s book is currently the best-selling spiritual book at Powell’s Books in Portland. She will be on hand to custom autograph your new copy, and a portion of all books sold that night will be donated to Salem Chamber Orchestra. The first twelve people to buy a book get a special treat courtesy of Itsy Bitsy Bakeshop.
Tickets are $25 and $15 students in advance, $30 and $20 at the door, pending availability. Tickets may be purchased at Travel Salem at 181 High Street NE in downtown Salem, by calling 503-581-4325, or visit salemchamberorchestra.org. Tickets are limited, order today!
