Professor S. Grover Rich, founder and Director of the Institute of International Relations and Professor of Political Science at the University of Utah, passed away on Christmas morning 2009. Many in the Democratic Party know him as one of the "Damned Old Democrats" who regularly lunched at the Alta Club.
He was Preside...nt Kennedy's appointee as Professor of Foreign Affairs at the National War College in Washington, D.C. in 1962. Many Utahns know Dr. Rich through his support for the Art Barn on Finch Lane, St. Mark's School, Salt Lake Committee on Foreign Relations, Inter-American Council of Utah, Utah United Nations Assoc., state Director of UNESCO, and board of the McGillis School.
He was also philanthropist extraordinaire, donating generously to KUED, Pioneer Memorial Theatre, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and, yes, the Democratic Party.
