I have been working with Nicholas Littlejohn on some small but fantastic ideas for my cafe downtown. We talk a lot about ways to improve our city and he has some great connections and even better ideas. So to ask the same question again, how can we be involved Mayor Sam?

Sam Adams Nothing yet to 'announce' but I just finished a constructive meeting with http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/ leaders on how to reform the way Portland automobile posted traffic speeds are determined in Portland. We have a lot of old and unsuitable posted speeds on many Portland streets but Portland's posted speeds are govern...ed by state law not city jurisdiction.

Several new laws going into effect on January 1, 2010 are aimed at making roads safer for travelers of all kinds: pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers and passengers. Fact sheets, summaries and other information about these new laws are available.

15 mph is not a speed, it's an idle. if you can not control your car at 25mph, then get off the road. also, you people should read the new cell phone law...it is very weak and needs to be beefed up.

I enjoyed hearing the discussion on OPB's "Think Out Loud." I'm very happy with your dedication to urban density and corresponding infrastructure while preventing further expansion of the urban growth boundary, Mayor Adams. Thank you again.

Thanks for the clarification Sam. I understood the key issue, and I'm very much in favor of the progress. My point was only that the big picture isn't quite as rosy. I also don't feel that increases in government jobs is something we should all hail. Keep up the fight Sam, I know it's a tough one. Xoxo
