Natural Bridge Caverns, Texas

Natural Bridge Caverns, Texas An impressive amount of rain (5 inches!) over the past two days has got the Caverns filling with water! There's a good chance that the lower section of the cave will be filled with water by Monday (October 5th). Many of the dry formations are active again. Pools are filling back up! The drought is far from over, but this rain took us several steps in a good direction.

Natural Bridge Caverns, Texas Just noticed a couple of monarch butterflies zipping about the butterfly gardens. Lots of caterpillars on the parsley and dill, too. The monarch migration path often clips the Caverns, and it's not uncommon to see several dozen as they pass through.

We were there with my 4 yr old this weekend! We have been to Mammoth Cave and Carlsbad, but this one was just really, really cool!... although, humid! It's funny to come out sweatier from the cooler temperatures of the cave compared to the 100 degree weather outside! The mining stuff and rocks were super exciting to... my son, too! We bought rocks and he has cherished them. It's just a wonderful place to take kids and the adults get to have just as much fun as the kids!Read More

Vanessa

Vanessa Just took a trip to the caverns...! Kids loved it and we had a great time too!

Kimberly Dobecka

Kimberly Dobecka I'm wondering if you ever have little (16 mo) kids go thru, and if they do OK. My older two are so excited to see the caverns, but i'm a little worried about the baby! Any suggestions, already saw strollers not recommended.

With little ones, it depends on how they feel about going underground that day. Unfortunately, they usually won't let us know that until about half-way through the tour!

We have lots of parents bring lots of little ones through. MOST of the time the kids do OK. But every once in a while the humidity or low light levels get to them, they start to fuss, and then it's no fun for anyone.

What we suggest is that if your child starts to fuss, walk a couple of steps ahead or behind the tour. Sometimes just walking or moving around will quiet them down. And the guide won't mind any parent taking a crying baby further down the trail, as long as the guide can still see you. ... Read More

IF your child has decided that they are done with underground exploration for the day, just ask the guide to leave the tour. The guide will call up on our speaker system and have someone come down to walk out with you.

Hope this info helps, and we look forward to seeing you all at the caverns!

That's what we like to hear!

At one point, we had figured out how many miles an average guide here walks over the course of a year. It's around 460 miles!
