Sherlock, Jr. (Synopsis)
Buster Keaton stars as a hapless movie projectionist who’s attempting to learn to be a detective by reading a how-to book. He delivers a box of candy to his girl, only to be upstaged by his rival. Returning to the movie theater, Keaton falls asleep during a romantic film he is showing, and dreams that he and his girl are the on-screen couple, still beset by his rival. He then dreams that he’s the famous detective Sherlock, Jr., who must rescue a damsel from villains. This fantasy film has influenced filmmakers such as Woody Allen and Mel Brooks, and is an absolute must-see.

Dr. Philip Carli has toured extensively as a film accompanist throughout North America and Europe, performing at such venues as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Gallery in Washington, DC, the Cinematheque Quebécoise in Montreal, the National Film Theatre in London, and the Berlin International Film Festival.
