Tecolote Guitar Works
San Diego Troubadour publisher Liz Abbott is an artist in her own right. However, you won't find oils or watercolors in her palette, but rather fabric and thread. Applying a technique she calls creative stitchery, which combines machine embroidery and applique, Abbott has developed a unique style that bursts with color... and life, to render stunning recreatioins of early orange crate labels, vintage travel posters and magazine covers, old luggage labels, and photographs of musicians from the 1920s, 30s and 40s.
Liz is a self-taught artist who has exhibited her creative stitchery designs around town for the past 10 years, most notably at the UCSD Library and at Brockton Villa. Her show will be in the TGW gallery from October 11 through the end of the year.
Join us on Saturday, October 11, from 7-10 pm for a gallery reception and party, featuring Liz's artwork, music by the ZZymzzy Quartet, refreshments and more!
