This next Friday night at Pkirkeby.
We are very pleased to announce the opening of Loose Connections II, a special exhibition featuring the work of eleven photographers united by their art, their friends, and the ocean. The show begins on Friday, December 4th at Pkirkeby Fine Art & Framing in Potrero Hill.
Rob Brodman, S...cott Eggers, Paul Ferraris, Art Gimbel, Mark Gordon, Dickson A. Keyser, Jake Johnson, Matt Proehl, Adam Warmington, Sachi Cunningham, and Elizabeth Pepin are all Bay Area residents and photographers who share a deep connection to Ocean Beach. They have captured this landscape, and the special community to which they belong, in their personal imagery. Loose Connections II offers viewers a unique opportunity to see through the eyes and lenses of these ten committed surfers as they pursue a life of wave riding in an urban setting surrounded by natural beauty. 25% off all sales from the exhibit will go to benefit San Francisco Baykeeper.
Catch a glimpse of the surfing lifestyle—and all the adventures that this passionate community experiences—at Aqua’s opening party for Loose Connections II on Friday, December 4th, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. Feast on Mexican food from an on-site taco truck while The Noe Valley Track Team supply the evening’s soundtrack.

Thanksgiving Eve Meltie for this Wet Wednesday the 25th- it's a Benefit for Alemany Farm and celebration of bartender Jeff's birthday (why does he want to work on his birthday, I dunno, but come wish him a happy one). The night will feature:
-$5 raffle for a Las Olas Surfboard (a biofoam 7'0'' rounded pin single fin) pl...us prizes from Java Beach Cafe, Timbuk2, Red Vic Movie House, Mocha 101, the Pizza Place on Noriega and Jaimal Yogis, author of Saltwater Buddha.
-Shorts by the Aqua Surf Shop Crew (Silvin Morgan, Brian Musial, Aleks Petrovitch and Merle) including their classic zombie/red neck surf flicks.
-Jeff's Birthday celebration festivities (anything could happen - 2007's bday brought a parade of Jeff look-alike's to the bar)
-DJ Paul spinning, soul, funk, dub, breaks, hip hop and reggae.
-Free food
-No admission
Sierra Nevada will also donate $1 for every pint of their beer sold and a portion of the bar sales and tips will also be donated.
Alemany Farm grows organic fruit and vegetables for San Francisco's diverse communities, hosts field trips and organizes educational workshops to get City residents closer to their food. Ten zillion calls a day r coming in about The Drifter Premiere this Monday night at the Victoria Theatre. We have a few tickets left at our Haight store but they r going fast.
-Doors open around 6:30pm. Get there a little early.
-Jon Swift, Rob Machado, and Todd Hannigan will be playing a small acoustic set on stage for... about 20-30 mins.
-Show will start around 7pm. Q + A with Rob Machado and Taylor Steele will follow after the film. We will also play some bonus surfing footage during the Q + A.

All right everybody, listen up.
I just got to see a sneak peek of MODERN COLLECTIVE to make sure everything was all good before the premiere showing - and let me tell you - It's all good!!!!
MODERN COLLECTIVE is a sick film that is shot extraordinarily well, has all kinds of waves in all sorts of colorful locations, fr...om perfect barrels to chunky onshore wedges. The music is good (there is one techno song which is a great place to break out your lightsticks), the editing is tight, and seriously the most contemporary surfing I have seen! Yeah there are airs and air 360s, but they are well balanced by all the sick barrels and deep carves. Mitch Colburn - are you kidding me...? Full tilt power hacks into sliding 360s? Siiiiiick...... There are no boring interviews, no contrived tales, the surfing tells the story here. I'm calling it a must see on the big screen.
The filmmaker Kai Neville will be there to host and introduce MODERN COLLECTIVE as well as Dion Agius, one of the six surfers featured in the film.
We will have goodies to pass out and Hagan of SUPER surfboards will be on hand to giveaway a new stick to a lucky movie-goer at the 9:30p showing.
We'll also get you amped for this weekend's huge swell with the trailer to Powerlines Production's new epic RIDE ON!
