Woodshanti Cooperative, Inc. On behalf of the Woodshanti Team, we'd like to wish you a happy and healthy holiday season! We leave you with a final thought for 2009 from the climate talks in Copenhagen...according to the Forest Stewardship Council, deforestation and forest degradation account for nearly 20% of all global greenhouse gas emissions. T...hat's more greenhouse gas emissions than are produced by all forms of transportation combined.

Using salvaged slabs of the extremely aromatic Monterey Cypress, the boys of the Woodshanti are seen here building a custom breakfast nook for a historic remodel in the Mission District of San Francisco. This is kind of a unique build in that the client actually purchased the salvaged material we're using. We do know that the cypress was purchased from, and locally salvaged by, one of our suppliers in Marshall, CA. called Arborica. Another great Bay Area resource for salvaged material is Green Waste Recycle Yard in Richmond, CA. They get a lot of their material from urban salvaged trees.
