TiVo Jobs: Cool people creating cool products The Daffodil is the first flower of spring and a symbol of hope. Daffodil Days is a program organized by the American Cancer Society where the flowers can be given, for a donation, to friends, family and loved ones. Donated moneys go to providing valuable programs and services to cancer patients in the community, and... help to fun cancer research, advocacy, and education on prevention and early detection.

The ACS also allows straight Gifts of Hope, donations that allow the American Cancer Society to anonymously deliver bouquets of daffodils to cancer patients.

TiVo joins the ACS every year, during the second week of March. The effort is lead by the folks from our Shipping Team!

If you'd like to join the ACS in the fight against cancer, please contact them through their website (http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PAR/PAR_4_Daffodil_Days.asp) or call them at 1-800-ACS-2345.

TiVo Jobs: Cool people creating cool products When Marc interviewed at TiVo he was asked quite a few questions. One of his questions was did TiVo have a Blood Drive?

This question had been years in the making. Years earlier when his mother having surgery and she had a need for blood. The blood bank they were working with had a “non-replacement charge” at the t...ime. If you could replace the blood the fee would be waived.

Since age 18, Marc has been a donor. He appreciates giving something other than just money. Blood, as he sees it, is something that everyone could at some point need - possibly at the worst possible time. Donating blood is a no-cost-anonymous way of giving of ones self to anyone who may need help.

Marc became the answer to the question he posed when joining TiVo. He spearheads TiVo’s quarterly Blood Drive in partnership with Stanford’s Blood Center Mobile. It’s a regular event that he passionately leads and TiVo supports along with other neighboring companies employees participating. He makes it easy for everyone to give, because it the right thing to do. Companies don’t do that, individuals do.

TiVo Jobs: Cool people creating cool products Hey great news! In 2008, TiVo gave 131 units of blood to the Standford Blood Center (see Photos). Since 2004 TiVo has given a total of 665 units, put us in the top 50 of corporate blood donors. It's draining, but all for a good cause!

TiVo Jobs: Cool people creating cool products Tracy’s passion is lung cancer awareness and the fight for a cure. In 2006 her mother lost a 15 month battle with lung cancer five weeks before Tracy’s wedding. In response to this personal lose, Tracy, a director at TiVo and who has been with the company for 8 years, created the Beverly Fund (http://www.beverlyfund.o...rg/.htm).

The Beverly Fund is a grassroots national nonprofit organization concentrating on raising awareness, education and supporting research for lung cancer. Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer in America and kills more men and women each year than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined. It is also the least funded cancer for research. The 5 year survival rate for lung cancer is 15%, compared to breast cancer which is 88%, or prostate cancer which is 99%. It is these sorts of statistics that the Beverly Fund seeks to change!

TiVo has had the opportunity to support The Beverly Fund through several events including:

• Kites for Cancer Awareness event where TiVo donated a Serier2 DVR and for the 2nd Kites for Cancer Awareness event TiVo donated a Series2 DVR with one year of free service. For the spring raffle in 2007 TiVo donated a Series2 with one year of free service, and for the last spring raffle 2008 TiVo donated a HD DVR with one year of free service.

• There was also a Stand Up To Cancer event this year and TiVo donated six HD DVRs (3 with Product Lifetime and 3 with 1 year of free service). For the Stand Up For Cancer event Tracy herself won a grand prize to participate in the celebrity phone bank.

• At the same event, as a result of spending numerous hours in the green room and on stage with many celebrities, Tracy brought the donated HD DVR faceplates and asked many of the stars to sign them. Each face plate was signed by celebrities like Halle Berry, Forest Whitaker, Kirsten Dunst, Keanu Reeves, Jack Black, Ellen DeGeneres, Christina Ricci, Josh Grobin, Jennifer Garner, Casey Affleck, John Kaminski, Dana Delaney, Marg Helgenberger, Mandy Moore, Neil Patrick Harris, Tony Hawk, Abigail Breslin, Jon Favereau, just to name a few. In total an estimated $10,000 was raised from TiVo’s donations. Pretty cool.

• TiVo also has supported employee and partner participation. One our call centers in Indiana held a "jeans day" where they traded in their business casual attire for jeans and paid $5 as a “fee”.

The Beverly Fund is always looking for volunteers to help out with events or administrative tasks, online research and additional board members. While TiVo and its staff have gotten involved, you can get involved too! Please visit their website (http://www.beverlyfund.org/Jobs.html) for more details.

TiVo Jobs: Cool people creating cool products Hey there!

This Facebook page isn't about TiVo products and services, although there is a lot great stuff to talk about! No, this page is about the other side of TiVo, the individuals who collaborate, design and build the neat things we all enjoy.

Sure, we work hard to make things look easy, but we also make time for th...ings that we care about too.

Maybe we're a place you can see yourself making a difference both in what you do and how you live.

Your friends at TiVo

TiVo Jobs: Cool people creating cool products

TiVo Jobs: Cool people creating cool products Project Hired is a non-profit that helps put people who have physical challenges back into the workforce. TiVo donated a product for auction and a group of us went to the event for dinner and the auction.

As someone from our team put it:

"So I thought the dinner was a really great networking event recognizing this sign...ificant nonprofit organization. Coming from a staffing background it was especially nice to see many professionals I worked with earlier in my career. The history behind Project Hired was very inspiring and the guest speakers and their stories where touching. I learned that the company has been around for over 20 years and they have long term relationships with many well know companies in the valley. I think TiVo presence was one of the highlights. Our company was mentioned several times and many people I spoke to were very excited about us being their supporting the cause.

Taking part in this event really demonstrated to not only the Project Hired organization but to the many companies who where represented there that TiVo Cares!

Thank you for the opportunity for TiVo help. We really enjoyed it!"
