San Juan Citizens Alliance To encourage public participation, the Forest Service will hold an open house and meeting on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Durango Public Library. From 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., Forest Service staff will be available to answer questions, and the public can view maps and sign up to offer oral comments later that evening.... Written comment forms will also be available. Between 6:30 – 9 p.m., oral comments will be recorded into the public record for the Draft EIS. Schedules and sign-up sheets for field trips will be available at the public meeting.

The Draft EIS is available for download from the San Juan National Forest website at: http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/sanjuan/projects/projects.shtml. CDs are also available upon request, and limited hard copies can be viewed at the Durango and Bayfield public libraries, San Juan Public Lands Center in Durango, and Columbine Ranger District in Bayfield.

San Juan Citizens Alliance The Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Hermosa Park/Mitchell Lakes Land Exchange has been released for public comment and review.

The federal parcel proposed for exchange consists of 265 acres of San Juan National Forest adjacent to U.S. Highway 550 north of Durango between the Haviland Lake/Chris Park Recreation Area and Tamarron Resort.
