I remember getting baptized when I was 7 years old at a church service. I remember clearly the neon blue off-the-shoulder ruffle bathing suit I was wearing because I loved it so much. I also remember the class I took before. The Gospel message was explained in the color book (red to remind us of Jesus' blood, white for forgiveness, gold for heaven... See More, etc) Although I was young, I grew up in Christan home and I knew what was going on. I believed through the faith of my parents and community from a young age and my faith has grown and changed over all these years. I had the privilege of teaching a baptism class to children at Twin Lakes for a while and I think it was one of the most amazing and challenging things I've ever done. A child's understanding of faith, love, and grace really inspires me!

andy i do not think they have power...but i think they have the potential. not specific to any particular gathering. i think the body of christ needs to function as a community where the gifts are more evenly distributed...because they are. most gatherings are set up like a spectator sport and the body gets tired of being entertained and our ... See Moreentertainment never competes with the world anyhow. i think God had something totally other in mind. we even struggle with it in the home group i attend i think because we are so conditioned to conform to a certain model. when i ran our community coffee house i thought...i wish church was more like a colaborative function because we all worked together to pull it off and all were included. of course only a handful at best knew God so there my analogy falls short...had we continued i think we were headed toward revival....i am very opinionated and this is only my opinion about traditional worship gatherings....i tried to conform for over 30 years...now i just kind of float and hope some will get in the trenches with us from the body as a whole...the body of christ in santa cruz...

I'm excited about this outreach! My department works with a lot of folks sleeping out in the cold...hard to do much when you're just trying to survive the night's cold. Thanks to everyone who can help take a bit of the chill off :-)
