Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab
Do you have a passion for the environment? Would you like to learn more about marine science? Do you want to make a difference in the community in a fun and engaging way? Would you like to give tours to people of all ages and backgrounds and spread the importance of ocean conservation? Then the Seymour Center has a rew...arding volunteer experience to offer you!
Come join the Seymour Marine Discovery Center at Long Marine Lab for the 2010 Docent Training Class! This intensive marine science interpretation course will give you all the knowledge and skill you need to inspire curiosity in our visitors about ocean conservation and marine science.
Classes begin Wednesday, January 13, 2010 and will continue every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning through March. This class is only offered once a year and you will not want to miss out!
As a Docent at the Seymour Center, you will be interacting directly with public guests as well as the marine invertebrates of our seawater table. You will have opportunities to lead guided tours around the Seymour Center and to our marine mammal overlook. You will join in our efforts to teach the public about the innovative scientific research and conservation work happening right here at Long Marine Lab. If you are interested in learning about marine science and would like to be apart of the Seymour Center team, please fill out an application today. All appropriate applicants will be interviewed prior to the training start date. To join the Docent team, you must be at least 18 years old and willing to commit to one 4-hour shift one day every other week for a minimum of one year.

Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab Omega Nu's fun-filled day of activities for children and adults, with exciting rubber duck races to be held throughout the day. In addition there will be food, carnival games, live music and local entertainment.
