The Santa Fe Alliance is proud to host the 1st Annual Buy Local Bowl!
The Buy Local Bowl is a challenge between Mayor Coss and Representative Egolf to work together with teams of local shoppers to stimulate the local economy.
Participants should report to Sanbusco Center at 9:45am to register and will be assigned to eith...er Team Coss or Team Egolf. Teams will have two hours to shop at local businesses and will return with receipts at 11:45am. A tally of dollars spent locally will be generated and one team will be designated the 2009 Local Bowl Champions.
Participants will receive passes to Genoveva Chavez Center and other local goodies!
The Buy Local Bowl is a response to the recent challenge by Governor Bill Richardson to spend $25 at each of two local stores in New Mexico, an initiative that could have a $27 million economic impact on the state in December. According to the AP, Richardson said that for every $100 spent locally, $68 stays in that community. That compares to $43 remaining in the community for every $100 spent in national chain stores.
Time:9:45AM Saturday, December 19th
