Notice the mini garden is growing out of toilet bowl; interesting juxtaposition. I think of growth and the pits e.g. the toilet. I think of how things we view as having traditional uses can be worked in another way. Curious really.

This is the same location as Meditation #36. I've taken a longer view which enables you to see a bit more of the landscape in which I talked about previously.
Another object left behind, or perhaps placed was a huge stuffed dog; carnival size. If I recall correctly is stood about 3ft tall.

This was shot over the summer. I was preparing for a shoot at a friends studio and had arrived so early that I was waiting outside.
This gave me opportunity to stop and notice the interesting terrain across the street. It appeared a series of row homes had been... leveled. One even had signs of a fire. One of the remaining objects was a tattered couch.
This was shot through the frame of the couch. Most of the stuffing had been pulled out. I really like this image because of what you cannot see.

Birdies in flight. I believe they were fighting over bits of food. The animal life in my neighborhood are rather comfortable with humans.

Re-introducing from another angle
Because I can. Today we went to the dog park and then Thelonious had a bath. Here he is relaxing.

Introducing Mister Thelonious Funk
Yesterday evening I was surprised with something quite extraordinary...a 5 month old schnauzer puppy. What was most extraordinary were the circumstances in which he was given to me...and of which I am most appreciative.
While I wont go into great de...tail, I will say that the gesture, was one that I will never forget and that it (the gesture) has also reminded me of how invested others are in my well being...and that is priceless.
Perhaps serendipitous is the fact that we, Thelonious (the puppy) and I share the same birthday. This was an added delight to discover while perusing his paper work.
Finally, I decided to name him Mister Thelonious Funk, for numerous reasons which I am discovering regularly. He reminds me of jazz music, knitted tops and cool vibes. Also, he's kind of quirky and quirky is good. Thelonious Monk, the jazz pianist that is his namesake was known for his unorthodox approach to music and his "hip" style of dress. And so there you have it...the first moments of my relationship with Mister Thelonious.
Thank you Dara!

Another image from a previous collection. I took multiple shots of this particular view. This was my favorite because it is as if the sky is opening up or giving birth to ...something.
Also, I see two "worlds": the sky which represents something almost metaphysical an...d the ground which represents reality, or the "world" I live and breath in.

This is from the archive if you will. I took this during the early summer of this year. Beautiful view.

Are there any connecting themes or strands of story you can see by pairing some of the images from my daily meditations?
This could be the hallway of any number of apartment buildings. Again the human presence without a person in the shot is intriguing to me. I also see some thematic... strands emerging in some of these daily meditations. For example, if I were to couple this with #28 I see a theme on humanly presence in absence. Or if I were to couple this with #27 the hallway and left behind underwear take on new meaning.

I was visiting a friend and decided to bring out the camera as we walked to get some food. I walked past this man and he actually asked to be photographed.

This image was taken during one of my rare night shoots. I don't often shoot at night. Upon looking at this image I'm filled with excitement and eeriness. Excitement because it represents new territory for me to discover; eerie because the night has that quality. The way light is ca...ptured, the lack of people and yet a humanly presence as implied with the bench evoke excitement and eeriness that I mention above.

I took a walk around my neighborhood and came across a crumpled pair of panties. Interestingly enough where I stood was about 100 meters outside of a school courtyard.
My neighborhood is populated by many people as there are about 9 high rise apartment buildings surrounding the scho...ol. I figured this was dropped from someone returning or headed to do laundry. Still visually, it has a lot of implications; private spilling into the public and vice versa, sexuality, work, children, sexual education, among other things. I can't help but wonder the story or context behind this undergarment left behind.

Allan Gardens, Toronto, ON
I figure it's never to late to come back to a daily practice. And here I am.
Taken a little over a month and a half ago. A friend of mine took me to Allan Gardens, located in St. Jamestown, Toronto. The gardens, over 100 years old contain over 16,000 sq. f...t of temperature regulated green houses. I'm thrilled to know of this space as it represents a spot of green and tropics for a chilly, windy and snow riddled winter.
This image ironically recalls a particular era, for me. I can't help but imagine cricket, British gentlemen dressed in white linen, lemonade, plantations. What do you see between the lines?

This is a new bit of work that I am exploring. I was invited to participate in a show in New Orleans in the spirit of photographer Renee Cox.
I think this will be the direction I go in for that work. Still deciding. Anyway, with out giving to much of a description, let me say a few... things that come to mind. I am exploring detachment and geographic presence as it relates to my body. I think these works will be images that are of "me" but with out seeing me (eyes, face, detail of body). I think it offers some interesting thinking around a kind of invisibility that is less about not being seen and more about being so seen you are then made un-visible. I had some help...thank you Katherine McKittrick and Richard Wright.
