Elizabeth The lovely and talented Sarah Rudinoff (http://sarahrudinoff.com/home.htm) did a performance piece on her home state of Hawaii a few years ago, in which she intercut scenes depicting the annexation with scenes from her own memory. Even though SV is not involved in the production or content of this FB page, it might be ......worth her time to chat with Rudinoff. :-) She seems like good people. (No, I don't know her.)

SV: I’ve been working on a book about events leading up to the American annexation of Hawaii, which is a sequel of sorts....... It starts with the arrival of the Puritans’ descendents, New England missionaries, arriving in Hawaii in 1820 and builds up to when the missionaries’ sons and grandsons overthrew the Hawaiian monarchy in 1893, paving the way for the American annexation in 1898. It’s a rewarding book to research, given that so much Hawaiian history, even at its bloodiest and most dispiriting, took place in breathtaking locales. Which wasn’t always true when I was researching the life and death of President McKinley. No offense, Canton!
