On Thanksgiving Day I closed my laptop, put away the broom & tried to enjoy a day filled with food, family & festivities. We had a wonderful day together as a family, a lot due to the fact that my sister-in-law invited us over to her house for Thanksgiving dinner & I got to enjoy the turkey without slaving over it all ...day! Since I was not tethered to the stove we decided as a family to put up our Christmas tree & start decorating the house. Can I just say that the decorations are pretty high on my list of things that I love about Christmas. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten the meaning of Christmas but there is definitely something magical that happens when a room is lit only by twinkly lights and candles. Our tree is the central part of our Christmas decorations and not because it is a show piece, IT IS NOT. It is filled with all different styles of ornaments, colored balls and ribbon. One ornament we got from a friend the day we got married, a few made it to our tree that once hung on our childhood trees, there are photo ornaments from our each of our baby’s first Christmases, and there are lots of ornaments we have picked up along the way. I love the ones that have sentimental value, ones that the kids picked out themselves, ones received as gifts and my favorites the ones that frame a photo. It makes me reminisce about Christmases past…how much things have changed in the 6 years since we started our family, how big our kids have gotten & how very blessed I am.
If you would like to incorporate photos from your recent session into a Christmas decoration or ornament please give me a call and we can discuss your printing options. And make sure that you store photo decorations in a cool dry place to ensure they stay nice for the long term.
Let me know if you have a special way that you display your holiday photos. You inspire me!

The White Acorn Photography & Design Group I AM THANKFUL...for the beauty in small things. I look around my life & I see so many beautiful things. Things that I want to capture in my memory. I want to remember that moment, and why I thought it was so beautiful. For me, that is when I whip out my camera because my memory seems to fade all to quickly. I am n...ot talking about seeing a gorgeous house in a magazine spread or seeing my favorite actor on the screen, although those things are nice. I am talking about the everyday moments & things that surround me all the time. I am thankful for the beauty in my family, in nature, in friendship, in the unexpected. I am so thankful for all of the gorgeous things that circle around me & I am thankful that occaisionally I take a moment to REALLY see them! If you have something special you are thankful for today please feel free to share. I love hearing from you!

The White Acorn Photography & Design Group I AM THANKFUL...For my laptop. This morning after a shoot I stuck the memory card in my laptop & started to look through the images. I LOVE THIS PART OF THE PROCESS, it is awesome to see all of the great shots we got. I never pick images on the first run-through but it gives me a good feel for the gallery. If at all... possible I like to look at the images as soon as I get home. And that is what I did this morning. But my little guy came into my office & started to cry. He wanted me to hold him. And here is why I love my laptop...because I picked him & the laptop up & sat down in my favorite oversized chair and cuddled him WHILE looking through the pics. Little things like that seem to make a big difference this time of the year when I am working a lot & the kids feel a bit deprived of "mommy time". So today I am thankful for my laptop because I got to spend a little time multi-tasking but my son never knew the difference. He just knew that he got to cuddle with mom! Let me know if you have something specific that you are thankful for today. Can't wait to hear! Have a great Saturday. I will be back tomorrow...ciao...Jasmin

I AM THANKFUL...For my clients!
Yesterday while on a shoot the client made a comment, "Did you know that you smile while you are taking pictures?" At first I tried to figure it out. Was it a concious decision I made? Am I smiling in order to get the client to smile? Really in the end I decided it was because photo...graphing clients is what makes me happy. I love the moment I capture a shot that I just know will make the client swoon. I love the feeling of satisfaction when I win over a "little" client who wanted nothing to do with me at first. I love when a sweet moment happens and I am quick enough to catch it. I love reading emails from moms who tell me they cried when they saw their images, then I about cry too. I love knowing that these images will be treasured generations from now. I really have amazing clients who appreciate my vision and who cherish the product I provide for their family (or business). Without them I would not be doing this. So thank you to my clients! You are awesome. I am very thankful for you. Feel free to share something you are thankful for, I love hearing from you!

Okay so for some reason the last two days I have not been able to post notes to my page. Not sure what is going on in FB land. So here is a shortie & a pic.
I AM THANKFUL...for hugs. Seriously they are just awesome! After a long day, when you are sad, or even when you are excited. I love hugs from my little ones.... They give the absolute best hugs. I love the hugs they give me when they run to greet me at the door. I love hugs from my hubby. He always seems to know when I need one. I love the hugs I get when I first see my family after a long time & even the ones I give them again when we part. I love hugs from a friend when I have had a bad day or just to say hi. Hugs...I am so thankful for hugs! Let me know if there is something specific that you are thankful for.

Dana Hey WAP&DG....check your email! :)

The White Acorn Photography & Design Group I know you were all holding your breath today waiting for my next Thankfulness entry...and unfortunately you are going to have to hold it a little longer :) Tune in tomorrow for a double installment of I AM THANKFUL.

The White Acorn Photography & Design Group I AM THANKFUL…for these handsome men, my grandfathers, and for the other men & women just like them! These men are my father’s father Wayne, my Mother’s father Harold, and my Mother-in-law’s father Merle and like so many other men and women in this country they served in the armed forces. Last week our country observ...ed Veterans Day and to be honest in our house it was not much different than any other day. I really take for granted all of the freedoms that I am afforded because of men and women who are braver, stronger, and more self-less than I. They fight so that I don’t have to. They keep the peace so that I may live in peace. They sacrifice every day so that I will never know the true meaning of sacrifice. I know a silly facebook entry is really no great tribute, but today I would like to voice my gratitude to the millions of amazing people who have given of their time, their lives & their very own freedom to ensure that we all have the liberties that our founding fathers so wisely determined. Today I am thankful for my gramps & other men & women like them who have made (or continue to make) sacrifices to ensure that we are able to live in freedom and to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. Please feel free to share if you are thankful for something or someone special today. Feel free to mention those loved ones of yours who are serving or have served in the US Military. I would love to hear! Have a wonderful day!!!!!

I AM THANKFUL....for my family. I am the mother of three spirited children (and one spirited husband :) and sometimes I really want to pull my hair out. But at the end of the day I realize how fortunate I really am. I am so blessed to have three beautiful, healthy, happy children and a wonderful and caring husband. ... I am thankful that I have a family to take care of and who takes care of me. They inspire me and challenge me and push me to be who I am meant to be. They are my peeps & I love them.
Let me know if you have something you are thankful for today. I would love to hear! Till tomorrow....Jasmin

I AM THANKFUL...for the dish fairy! "What is that?" you are asking yourselves. Such a good question. Honestly I did not know such a person existed, until today. While on a shoot across town this morning with a gorgeous family my SIL generously watched my kiddos so that my husband could do some work aswell. I came ...home to.....wait for it....wait for it....a clean kitchen! I remembered that after dinner last night there were a few dishes that couldn't fit into the dishwasher but what I couldn't figure out was whether I had washed them in my sleep, whether my husband had reluctantly done them, or if there really is a dish fairy? To my surprise she does exist & her name is Holly! Thanks so much to her for being an awesome df, sil & bff. You are the best!
Let me know if you have something you are especially thankful for today! Or feel free to debunk or confirm the existance of the df. We would love to hear from you. Have a great day!

The White Acorn Photography & Design Group I AM THANKFUL...for grace. Day 2 of I AM THANKFUL and I didn't have to think long on what it was that I was so thankful for today. While driving my son to school this morning I heard him in the back seat singing "Your grace is enough". Those words were so strong when voiced by a 5 year old. The tears just about spi...lled over. Most days I am a wreck. I am selfish & prideful & all things ugly. But through grace I am beautiful. What an amazing gift! Today feel free to add something you are thankful for. I hope have a stock pile of things to be thankful for (just like me). That's all for today. Check back tomorrow to find out what else is in my stock pile! Ciao.....Jasmin

I AM THANKFUL...for coffee. Yep, it is going to be that simple today. There are plenty of more important things that I am thankful (coming in the next 14 days) but today I was thankful for coffee. It gives me the energy to start another early morning even after staying up way too late returning emails. Whether iced... or hot, flavored or plain, always with plenty of cream...I am thankful for coffee. And come to think of it my family should be thankful for coffee too...it makes me much more fun to be around!
Feel free to chime in any time if you want to share something you are thankful for. Tune in tomorrow for another exciting round of "I AM THANKFUL". I am your host Jasmin. Thanks for watching! :) :)
