So when are the bureaucrates going to take a pay cut ?? We should do without, while they still get not only their big paycheques, but perks as well.

Is this like the ol' "Schweppervescens" that burst and pop in a G&T? This sound bite is as substantial as the govt's commitment to culture in BC :-o

Save British Columbia’s Arts and Culture Community Attention cultural Olympiad artists, perhaps out of protest to the liberal arts funding cuts, you should halt your projects and go on strike. Show the world we need our culture to thrive as a society… without the arts we no longer have a direction into the future. Stand up for the arts funding, demand from your MLA tha...t they need to be held accountable for your loss, my loss, our loss.

But the BC government did put money into the Olympics... it would be a great way to have our message heard... but the BC gov doesn't really care about the arts/culture. Culture, it seems in BC, is based on what money can buy you... BC is a leisure society, the focus here isn't arts and culture its hanging at the beach, flying down a mountain, or ... See Morewatching a hockey game. which is why the Libs feel confident in destroying the funding. I'm sure the Libs would argue that C.O artists just are just shooting themselves in the foot and it would only look negative on them... so I say to the C.O. artists, stand up and make your voice heard. The world is coming, they need to know our culture is in jeopardy.

Imagine the money that would be spent supporting the arts in Canada if so much money wasn't being paid (by our governments) to our Banks... We need more documentaries on this important issue. It's a MUST WATCH for anyone who cares about the financial burden that our incompetent and corrupt MPs and MLAs are leaving behind for future generations. ... Why has the provincial government singled out the arts for the most brutal budget cuts it has inflicted on any sector of the economy?

$1 = $1.38. Is anyone good in math? What would be the potential loss of renvenue based the amount the BC government is cutting for arts and culture? Not including the gamings cut, the amount the government is cutting is $17.25 million. If I have my math right, they're losing out on $23.8 million dollars in return? Does that mean, they not only get $17.25 mil back, but they also get 6.55 million extra? Am I wrong with my math?

I'm not interested in the math...the history of lotteries and government cutbacks forcing non profits to hold bingos ...taking money from the poor by giving some small hope that they might have a windfall...I've known people who win but spend just as much getting there...It is a sad state we live in....food banks and bingos to keep people ... See Moreentertained but struggling...we didn't have food banks until the Social Credits cutback a lot of community services...I hear the Liberals took back their cuts to the arets and Culture Community....such a misnomer as really again I hate that we are really talking about Bingo...and governments passing the buck...

I, Leah Selk, posted this link, and thought that it was great news for a step in the right direction, and do realize that it is merely a step in a large battle.
