Saving California's parks is important. Sometimes the threats are not from budget cuts but from its own misguided management. Details of a secret transfer of 1200 acres at Tolowa Dunes State Park are just coming to light. Why would Parks transfer a Tolowa World Renewal site, Yontocket, to a Fish and Game Department who cannot manage it? Well, that's easy...to accommodate duck hunters!!

Some parks will close during the...

There’s a troubling side to the governor’s announcement a week ago that none of California’s 279 state parks will close this year due to state budget cuts. With the threat of closure removed, many residents could be left with the impression that the parks will be spared. It is heartbreaking to watch our State and National Parks suffer for the mismanagement of our government. John Muir, along with every other person and group who worked so hard to give us these great gifts, are all being shown such disrespect. Did they work so hard for us all to slide backwards?
