Hi, It looks like the countdown is on for Peter Garrett to decide the future of the Mary River. It's critical that we tell him, right now, what we think! Check out www.stoppress.com.au to download your Instant Activism Letter Pack, to make it quick and easy for you to have your say...

Also don't forget the historical events that took place on this land. It is a part of Queensland and Australian history.

I totally agree and that is why I lodged a submission to the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.

Save the Mary River
Hi everyone...
Just wanted you to know about the next big thing in the Save the Mary River campaign.
Spectacular events happening this weekend...
Save the Mary is putting on a great party & fundraiser this Saturday night (horses OPTIONAL), followed by a fantastic trail ride on Sunday (horses recommended)!

The Kandanga 100...0 Horse Trail Ride - 19th and 20th September, run by Save the Mary River Coordinating Group

The Kandanga 1000 has happened every year since the proposed dam was announced (although equine influenza caused the event to be cancelled one year). This year, the Kandanga 1000 is based at Imbil Showgrounds.

The Saturday night involves great live music & entertainment, licensed bar, auction spectacular and roast dinners, with proceeds going to the Paradise Dam Court Case fighting fund. It kicks off around 6pm. Camping at the showgrounds is $5 including HOT showers, toilets and water for your horses. Donations of Auction items also gratefully received, you can bring them on the night.

Sunday is the ride of 15-20km through the beautiful Mary Valley, starting approximately 9am. Check the attached flyer for details. In previous years we have had riders from all over Queensland and we would love to have a record number of attendees at the ride and at the night-before concert.

Please send on to your networks!

See you out there...
Cheers,
Arkin

ARGH. If wee people like us can see this, why can't those in 'power'. I am so frustrated with this and then I read the ignorant comments of those in the paper who have never lived in the country and needed to conserve water!!!! People will lose farms and some have already lost their lives. These are the bits of news that is not 'newsworthy' to some.

So the dust has finally settled from the State Election... new ministers have been appointed... they've all settled into their new roles... Anna Bligh's still sadly misinformed about the true meaning of a mandate.....
