Saw Mill River Audubon Saw Mill River Audubon was pleased to participate in yesterday's River Day at Van Cortlandt Manor. Attendees got a look at what life was like in the 17th century on the banks of the Croton River. They also got to meet representatives of modern-day environmental groups that are working to improve the environment of the Hudson River and surrounding communities.

Saw Mill River Audubon Bird sightings at Pruyn Sanctuary Many young birds are visible now particularly around the mulberry trees in the arboretum. They fly in after the adults, first are fed by the adults in the tree and then tentatively start feeding themselves. Great to watch

(Another respondent writes:) The inspiration for the crane shape in origami is almost certainly the Red-crowned Crane, which is symbolic of good fortune and bliss in Japanese culture. (Telling is the binomial latin name for the species: Grus japonensis; or more literally, Japanese Crane.) You can see this species depicted unmistakably in Japanese paintings, currency, and even in newspaper advertisements for investment banks (e.g., Mizuho).

Seems strange that there are not MORE online applications like this but here's the one source I've found that is an online quiz of 20 Eastern warbler songs: http://www.a2z4birders.com/4/matcher/index.html Part of the a2z4 birders.com web site...
