Acoustic Gathering
“Acoustic Gathering IV” will take place on Sunday 13th September 2009 in Scarborough’s beautifully renovated Peasholm Park.
22 acoustic acts will perform from the bandstand on the lake under the towering gaze of the island pagoda.
Re-affirming the accolade awarded to Scarborough for becoming the most enterprising place i...n England & Europe, this year’s event will encompass the plethora of talent that the town has to offer. The line-up will feature some familiar local faces including Jesse Hutchinson, Carl Woodford & Darren Cooke, the prodigious talent of Luke Keegan, Alastair James & Craig Blair, & the phenomenally talented Ashley Hicklin, Amaya Huntly & Harriet Frank.
Returning to Scarborough after thrilling a packed Acoustic Lounge at Coastival earlier this year is the amazing madcap Mancunian Louis Barabbas, definitely one to watch!
This year’s headliner is Yorkshire born Eliza Carthy, daughter to folk legends Martin Carthy & Norma Waterson. A truly inventive and innovative singer and fiddle-player, Eliza describes herself simply as a ‘modern British musician’. During her 16-year career, Eliza has become one of the most dazzling and recognised folk musicians of a generation.
Festival organiser, Steve Dickinson said “I’m very excited about Acoustic Gathering IV. I have had so many artists expressing a desire to play at this year’s festival that it has been a very difficult task choosing just 22.
I believe the end product will showcase the dazzling talent this town nurtures. Eliza Carthy is an incredible headliner, Acoustic Gathering IV will be an amazing day.”
On site facilities include catering, bar, toilets, festival stalls, face painting plus there will be performances by Scarborough’s champion cheerleaders “East Coast Tigers” & the fabulous “Kevin O’Connor Irish Dancers”.
With plenty of room for families, lots of space to relax and disabled access, everyone is welcome at Scarborough’s very own boutique acoustic festival.
