Scottish Politics A by-election was held in the Maryfield ward of Dundee City Council on the 12 th March 2009 following the resignation of Labour Cllr Joe Morrow, Depute Lord Provost of Dundee, subsequest to his appointment by the Scottish Government as president of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland.
The Scottish National Party gai...n from Labour means the composition of the 29 seat council, which is run by a Labour/Liberal Democrat coalition with informal Tory and Independent support, is 14 Scottish National Party, nine Labour, three Conservatives, two Lib Dems and one independent (ex-Labour) Cllr.
