These three photos are pictures of the 2009 City Softball Champion of Watsonville, photos 1 & 2 are photos courtesy of Eric Ackerman and the 3rd photo was taken by The City of Watsonville for their brochere/catalogue that is sent out each year. I am especially proud of this team because both of my grown sons are on th...is team. They are Daniel and John Grilli. I regonize most of the faces and know some of the other players on the team, GOOD TEAMWORK AND HEALTHY FUN! Watsonville does have fun and family activities, despite some of the bad things that happen, now this is the Watsonville I remember! Vicki GrilliRead More

Thx. Will do.

I should have said that I appreciated your story Monday about warming water off Japan (and resulting invasive giant jellyfish whose poison can ruin a catch of fish).

Santa Cruz Sentinel The rail trail subject is pretty complicated, and doesn't lend itself easily to newspaper stories, but this clarifies where we're at on an important issue.

I love the idea of a rail trail AND passenger service as well. Now if there were only a train from San Jose to Santa Cruz and onward to Watsonville, I'd be delighted since I could then take the train from Roseville all the way to Watsonville and back! My family in Corralitos would be equally happy - they'd not need to pick me up in San Jose.

... Read MoreBefore WW II, there was a train from San Jose (or at least Los Gatos) to Santa Cruz, and I've heard from time to time a wish to reopen that line. There was a funny story about that line and some well-meaning folks closing a tunnel near Wright Road, with dynamite, and making the route from the coast to Santa Clara Valley "impassable" to the "enemy" who, at that time were the Japanese in WW II. Might be a fun story to pursue someday for the Sentinel.
