why not cash in on historical celebrity cache to benefit children's literacy. As a producer, I have worked with tons of kids and on kid issues. I'm a former English undergrad, grad school in film, and a total book geek. kids need to learn to read and later read and memorize scripts!!! Love it.

Join this FREE screening of an exclusive SAG Foundation interview with Academy Award winning actor Javier Bardem. In this December 1, 2007 interview, Javier sheds light on the craft of acting for the camera and what it means to be passionate about the craft of acting.

(CHECK-IN FROM 6:00-6:45PM)

Javier Bardem BIO:

When a... very young Javier Bardem announced, “I want to be an actor”, his concerned family of artists, actors, performers and directors said, “Don’t say that.” Fortunately, he endured the hardships of an acting career to pursue this passion, even as a writer, painter and rugby star.

At age six he appeared in his first feature, El Picaro (The Scoundrel), and it was his role in Jamon, jamon (Ham, Ham) that brought him instant popularity. Following a series of movie and television appearances casting Bardem as the brawny beefcake sex symbol character, his passionate performance as Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas in Before Night Falls impressed international audiences with his enormous talent. A variety of challenging roles opened up to him, and he received five Best Actor awards, a Golden Globe and Best Actor Oscar nomination for Before Night Falls. He is the first Spanish actor ever to be nominated for an Academy Award.

American audiences have enjoyed his work in films including The Dancer Upstairs, The Sea Inside and most recently No Country for Old Men, which has won him several film festival awards as well as a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the psychotic “Anton Chigurh”, a character as memorable for a violent nature as he is for an oddly anachronistic haircut.

In this July 14, 2003 interview, Sydney sheds light on the craft of acting for the camera, the inside track on producing, and his experience directing some of the world's most memorable f...ilms.

Sydney Pollack BIO:

Director, actor, producer, teacher Sydney Pollack began his career as an actor, training with Sanford Meisner, then working as a teacher at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. His directing career began in television, where he helmed episodes of Ben Casey and other shows in the early 1960s.

Over the years, Pollack gained a well-deserved reputation as an “actor’s director,” eliciting award-winning performances from a distinguished list of actors including Gig Young in They Shoot Horses Don’t They?, which also earned Pollack a Best Director Academy Award nomination. As an actor himself, Pollack has impressed audiences and critics in films including Tootsie, Husbands and Wives, The Player, A Civil Action, The Interpreter and Michael Clayton.
His directorial work includes such cinematic classics as This Property is Condemned, The Swimmer, Jeremiah Johnson, Three Days of the Condor, The Electric Horseman, Out of Africa, Absence of Malice, Havana, The Firm, Sabrina, Random Hearts and The Interpreter.

Mr. Pollack won an Academy Award for Best Director for Out of Africa (1986), and an Emmy for Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre: The Game (1965). In 2006 he received the Screen Actors Guild Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence Behind, Before and Beyond the Lens.
