Depends on if one is diving from shore or from a boat. General direction is all that would normally be needed fore shore divinmg. If one spends a lot of time watching a navigation board, then one will miss a lot of the visual sport of diving. However, GPS would make it a lot easier to NOT MISS THE BOAT when trying to f...ind your way back to a mooring or anchor. So it certainly would have a place in my bag.
