Mark your calendars for our fourth annual street fair, 1-4 p.m., celebrating community non-profits with arts and live entertainment, including a "You Are Here," a photography exhibit at the Discover Portsmouth Center. Details announced soon.
The 4th annual Seacoast Local Festival will draw a festive crowd on Saturday, J...une 6, bringing together a host of local nonprofits for an afternoon of interactive community celebration in downtown Portsmouth. This year, we're expanding to the Bridge Street Parking Lot, at the intersection of Congress and Islington streets, in downtown Portsmouth.
There are games, live performances from local artists, a digital photo exhibit, and a community art project, but the Seacoast Local Festival is also about bringing the Seacoast community and our nonprofits together to highlight, encourage and sustain the natural and important connections among us.
Our nonprofits help those of us in need, they ensure that art and its many benefits are ever-present here, they preserve the history that sets the Seacoast apart from other “tourist destinations,” they encourage and support our local agriculture and food economy and they work hard to both preserve and showcase our precious and wonderfully accessible natural resources.

Seacoast Local encourages Seacoast residents to enjoy dinner and community while helping neighbors in need during the Seacoast Local (H)EAT Restaurant Night.
On Thursday, Feb. 5, 10 percent of proceeds from Anneke Jans, Black Trumpet, The Blue Mermaid, Jumpin' Jay's Fish Café, and Victory restaurants will help (H)EAT.
"...We are very excited about this opportunity to bring people together over a meal and the impact this could have for those who need extra help this winter," says Denise Mallett of Black Trumpet in Portsmouth, who helped organized the evening. "We all count on each other during difficult times and this gives us a chance to come together to help support and sustain our unique community."
Did you know local, independent restaurants play a key role in keeping the Seacoast strong? They return more than 56% of their revenue to the local economy in the form of wages, local purchases of goods and services, profits, and donations, while chain restaurants return only 37%.
