Yes! As an SFCG alum, I thought many of the same things this article points out. I think the fact that the common ground approach still needs to be translated to much of the country (and the world) is testament to the necessity of the work Search for Common Ground does so well.

You are invited to join the Washington Network on Children and Armed Conflict in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies Conflict Management Program for a discussion on the long awaited 10-Year Strategic Review of "Impact of Armed Conflict on Children" by Graça Machel.

The "Machel St...udy 10 Year Strategic Review" emphasizes that war violates the rights of children: the right to life, the right to family unity, the right to health and education, the right to protection from violence and abuse, and the right to receive humanitarian assistance. With the changing nature of armed conflict, these violations are becoming more pronounced.

Please join us Friday, October 30th at the School for Advanced International Studies as we host Bo Vikor Nylund of Child Protection in Emergencies Child Protection Section of UNICEF and Tonderai Chikuhwa of the UN Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict for a discussion on the Machel strategic review and recent developments in strengthening accountability for crimes against children during armed conflicts.

Please send your RSVP to wncac@sfcg.org.

The purpose of this service project was “team bonding,” a space for us to have fun and get to know each other better while serving the local community. It was certainly a good opportunity to get out of the office and away from our computer screens and work together in a different way.
