Current Volunteer Needs

Teen Parent Program Volunteers

  • FamilyWorks is looking for some experienced child-care providers to care for the children in our Teen Parent Program from 4:00-6:00 PM on Saturdays. In addition to supporting our teen parents as they learn life skills and parenting skills or attend seminars such as CPR or Car Seat Safety, food will be provided! For more information, contact Gladys at 206/694-6729 or by email .
  • Acoustic Musicians to play in our hallway during Food Bank hours

FamilyWorks is looking for local musicians* who would like to volunteer their time and their sweet sounds to perform in our hallway during food bank hours. We think it would be a pleasant change of pace for us and for our clients. Do you know someone who might be interested? Contact Jake at 206-694-6727. *Please acoustic only and no drummers; Solid Ground people are accustomed to much-less-noisy situations.

    Current In-Kind Donation Requests

FamilyWorks Seattle functions largely on donations from you - our community. In addition to monetary and food donations, we also provide miscellaneous items to families as needed and as available. Some of these items include diapers (just 12 per family per week!), bus tickets to reduce barriers in coming to the food bank and resource center, cribs, strollers, and car seats. For liability reasons, many of these items have restrictions on what we can accept (e.g. car seats must be less than 5 years old, not have been in a crash, not have been recalled, and the straps cannot have been washed in a washing machine). Please call FamilyWorks at (206) 694-6727 if you are interested in donating items, and we will confirm that there is a community need for them at that time and that they meet the liability restrictions. Thank you very much for your thoughts and consideration of FamilyWorks and the families we serve!
